TITAN Log File Analyzer

Analyzing the Results of TITAN Team Decision Making Experiments

Every TITAN run produces its own log file that records subjects’ actions. Experimenters are typically interested in collections of these actions, starting with hooking a specific track and ending when the leader enters his/her threat assessment. Within this block, a number of questions could be asked including what was the entered and correct threat for each player, how long did each take to process the track, etc. These questions have to be answered for each track within a run and then for all runs that comprise the study.

The TITAN Log Analyzer is designed to answer the common questions that are independent of the specific goals of any particular study. It can process multiple logs in a single run producing two result files. The first contains statistics for all players summarized by track within run, and the second contains information for all of the questions (confidence and others), that were asked.

The Analyzer can append output to existing result files. This reduces the proliferation of files that often arises during large studies. The column labeled, tab delimited result files can be easily imported into a variety of spreadsheets and analysis programs.

Analyzer output is formatted as standard ascii, tab delimited files. These can be easily imported into a variety of utilities and statistical packages. The referenced pages were produced by importing the Analyzer output files into Microsoft Excel and then exporting them as HTML.

Here (134K) is a sheet containing the results of a series of team runs.

This one (62K) contains the confidence questions that were answered by the Leader during these runs.

And this one (126K) contains one solo trial for each of Leader, Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Solo runs were used to train subjects prior to team tests.
