DigiStamp

In a DCIEM TANDEM experiment, conversations between three experimental subjects (Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie) are collected and "timestamped" as to when each subjects' utterances begin and end, using NTT Systems' DigiStamp, written in LabVIEW. The audio may be digitised to a file at the same time. The utterance timestamp file may be subsequently analysed using MacSHAPA and DigiPlay.

Below is a screenshot of DigiStamp, showing voice channels for the three speakers. These are generated in real-time, as the audio is fed in from a four-track tape recorder. At the moment, in this example, Alpha and Bravo and talking at the same time, but Charlie is keeping quiet for now. The utterance times created by DigiStamp are only markers indicating a kind of "utterance schedule", and do not include any actual audio data (see DigiPlay).
