Color Map Display

NTT Systems developed the software for a CRT colour map experiment, in the Human Factors Division of DCIEM. The software was written in C. The experiment was designed to test colour palettes and symbol sizes for electronic navigation maps. Subjects were asked simple questions about the symbols on maps and were timed to see how fast they answered.

The system provided a Trial Editor, in which the experimenter can edit sessions of different map presentations, or trials. The resulting session file is read and executed, actually presenting the map information to the subject and collecting responses.

Below is an example, with the Trial Editor in the foreground and the map information in the background window.
